Inside the Paris By CAMILLA Launch

An Evening at Caravin

Paris came to Potts Point on Wednesday 23 September. To celebrate the launch of Paris By CAMILLA, Founder and Creative Director Camilla Franks and fashion tastemaker Pip Edwards, a long-time friend of the brand, hosted a dinner at Caravin in Sydney, an evening given over to the City of Light and its hidden curiosities.

Every guest arrived dressed in the new collection. It was a night of fashion and friendship, and it ended the way a Paris evening should, with chocolate.

A Parisian table in Potts Point

Caravin kept its own character. Rather than redressing the room, CAMILLA worked with artist Anouk on bespoke artwork that carried the collection into the space in small, deliberate touches, across custom tablecloths, menus, chalkboards and the bollards outside the door.

Bespoke cocktails and canapés opened the evening. A three-course French menu followed: steak frites, French wines and chocolate mousse. Chocolate cigarettes closed it, one final insouciant flourish. Against a pared-back room, the print, colour and handwork on every guest filled the table.

Who was at the Paris By CAMILLA launch?

Camilla Franks and Pip Edwards welcomed 22 guests, among them Jackie O, Renee Bargh, Candice Lake, Steve Cordony, Thomas Cocquerel, Monica Morales, Nadia Fairfax, Fleur Egan, Abigael Boivin, Helena Vestergaard, Dan Brown, Rachel Tee Taylor and Em Gurr. Media from Vogue, RUSSH, Forbes and The Sydney Morning Herald joined them, along with a contributing writer for The Business of Fashion.

Old friends. A new collection.

What is Paris By CAMILLA?

Paris By CAMILLA is the new collection from the Australian luxury fashion house. Inspired by the romance and rebellion of Paris, it turns the CAMILLA maximalist lens on the French capital, a city where old-world opulence meets an unmistakably modern edge.

Our Founder and Creative Director Camilla Franks traces where it began: "My muses don't live in the obvious places. They live in the corners."

In this collection, those corners are specific. The Dauphin's Library, the Queen's bedchamber at Versailles and the gilded dining room of Le Train Bleu all become print, across fluid silks, strong tailoring, occasion wear and separates that move from day into evening. The most intricate pieces carry extraordinary handwork. The Versailles or Die Cowl Neck Slip Dress alone carries 185 hours of heavy hand-embellishment.

The collection also marks a step in the evolution of CAMILLA beyond its resort roots, into ready-to-wear with the same storytelling at its heart.
